Ventlings field notes

Where can an air freshener go in a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y?

The dashboard outlet is not a conventional row of exposed clip-ready slats. Start with the exact vehicle manual and accessory instructions—not a generic “universal fit” claim.

Why the Model 3 and Model Y vent is different

On a typical slatted outlet, the visible vane may also be the accessory mounting point. Tesla's manuals instead describe a full-width face-level outlet whose airflow direction is adjusted on the touchscreen. The visible opening does not, by itself, show a supported clip surface, the depth behind the trim, or a safe load path.

The rear-console outlets may use a different construction from the dashboard outlet, and interiors can change by production date, market, trim, and refresh. Confirm the exact vehicle and intended location in its current owner's manual before comparing an accessory.

A slot is not automatically an attachment point

A clip entering an opening is not proof that the opening was designed to carry it. An unsupported clip or adapter can press on finished trim, wedge against hidden parts, bind movement, rattle, or come loose. Never bend a clip, add tape, pry trim, or improvise a spacer to make an air freshener stay in place.

A responsible accessory maker should identify the exact vehicles and model years tested, show the intended contact surfaces, publish the finished installed weight, explain removal, and list known exclusions. A vehicle name in a marketplace title is not the same thing as documented compatibility.

Check the vehicle guidance before adding an accessory

Tesla's Model 3 parts-and-accessories guidance says non-approved accessories can affect vehicle performance and occupant safety and explains that Tesla cannot assess parts made by other distributors. That does not ban every third-party cabin accessory; it means the vehicle guidance and the accessory maker's evidence both matter.

Keep the screen, sight lines, controls, defogging function, airbag-marked areas, and normal outlet operation unobstructed. If the exact manual or accessory instructions do not clearly permit the proposed location, choose a different format or ask the manufacturer.

Ventlings status: no Tesla fit claim

As of August 20, 2026, Ventlings is a preproduction concept. There is no production-equivalent dock, tested Tesla adapter, supported vehicle list, or completed retention program. The free founder reservation records interest only; it does not promise compatibility or inventory.

Use the complete no-force vent-clip guide, review the proposed Ventlings system and validation plan, and follow the build updates for evidence before relying on any future fit statement.
